Good Night Sweet Baby James

Honoring great poet
and dear friend  James M. Lyon

I met with you at midnight’s hour
~ your muse it was who greeted me

called to table under starlight’s glimmer
'neath the murmur of unforgotten dreams

Seamless promises … dangling
Whispered melodies of loves and lovers, family and friends
~ son and grandson

Muse consoles me, softly reminds me
that poets-a- plenty caress sweet baby James
~ in the midnight skies

I heard myself saying “I love you so much” followed by asking …“Did I ever tell you so?”
Swiftly came answer … “Yes!” Echoed by poets’ voices present and past

“YES!” we shout in unison,
“We did indeed speak it in energy’s waves of appreciation!”

When meeting with you on poet’s days,
standing in honor of peacock’s gaze
celebrating loves you’ve shared ~ reflected in your eyes

And you, dear friend gave back to each in turn,
thru love that danced ‘round the poets’ room
catching us up in the enchanting net of your resonating V*O*I*C*E

And, did you tell us of your love for ‘us’?
Yes, indeed!  ,,, within your warm, comfortable smile
that ignited the flame of wisdom and whim,
sparked by the generosity of your spirit within

You told us so with creative command
as you artfully ruffled through bountiful poetic pages,
reaching  inward toward the deepest of self
to read to us of carefully designed words

~ as only one as beautiful as you could do ~

Love exchanged itself for dreams and schemes and moonbeams
and they in turn exchanged themselves for you
Just so we could find each other in this walk of life we’ve shared

Misty image now embraces your retreat
as you follow the pathway lit up for you by other great ones

Gladly you let go of earthly cares, concerns and strains
exchanging them for love’s eternal songs that A-Muse-Sings
~ just so we would know where to find you

Good night Sweet Baby James
